It's been Oliver Stone's ambition to make a movie about the 1968 My Lai massacre called "Pinkville". The film got cancelled in 2007 but Stone continues to express interest and , who knows, maybe it will be his next feature.
I hope to finish up my "Pinkville" series of posts but, meanwhile, here is a terrific documentary that can be seen on youtube. The documentary "Four Hours in My Lai" was made in 1989 and is a nice time capsule of interviews with participants on both sides. The title was also turned into a book by the filmmakers in 1992, which is a corker of a read. Obviously a book can go into greater detail on a subject but the power of the doc is it's interviews and seeing the impact of the event on it's subjects. Both the film and the book work well together as a history of My Lai.
My youtube linking has been rusty, so if this doesn't work "Four Hours in My Lai" can be seen at youtube itself.
